Thumbs up 75% off on Demigod

Stardock has launched a "Refer a Friend" programme for Demigod and have given me a referral code that gives my friends 75% off on the digital download version of the game.

That means Demigod will cost you $4.99 (about R37 today).

So, friends... Anyone interested in getting a referral send me a PM with your email address and I'll forward you the mail.

This is only valid until 8 April.

Should I cross-post this to the bargain thread?

Well, you can check out Demigod on the Impulse website, but if you want the discount you need a referral code (I'm pretty sure this mail went out to many Demigod players). If you're interested, PM me an email address I can reach you at and I'll forward you the mail. The mail contains the referral code as well as the link to the Demigod page on Impulse.

How big would the download be though?

According to the website, around 2.2GB. If you know someone with the retail game that can be dramatically decreased, though. If you're in Pretoria and you have a 4GB+ flashdisk or blank DVD I might be able to help you out too.

I downloaded it and it was 800MB.

And according to my Cacti graphs, it was just over 800MB.

Can this be played in SA though with reasonable latency.

My friends bought it and said it was horrid. The P2P system really lags hard and makes it virtually unplayable. Also Demigod was not met with much acclaim and therefore I question its longevity...

The price is pretty cheap though...so maybe why not???

HoN is what I'd buy if I could connect from behind my stupid Uni's porxy server

    Core2Duo E8400 3Ghz, ASUS P5Q/SE MOBO, 3Gigs or RAM (800Mhz), Asus ATI RADEON 4850 512MB, 2X 500GB HDDs, Windows 7 Ultimate

Last I checked you basically need "fastest" Telkom ADSL -- 1024(up to 4096)/512 -- in order for games with more than 4 players (i.e. 2v2) to not lag. They may have optimised this further since I last checked, but if you have a 384kbps line (which means you have max 128kbps upstream) I can't in good conscience recommend the game.

The problem is our shockingly slow upstream bandwidth -- there's just not enough for Demigod's demanding P2P netcode.
