Samsung announce South African SUHD TV prices

Samsung South Africa has announced local recommended retail prices for its new range of ultra-high definition TVs.

So, getting a normal UHD display with LED technology will at 65-inch will cost you about R30 000, as per Dion Wired. Then you will have a full curved smart TV displaying pictures up to a resolution of 4096 x 2160. Or, for double the price, you can get a SUHD TV, with smart capabilities and using Quantum Drop technology to display pictures up to a resolution of 4096 x 2160. Hmmm....so Quantum Drop technology is R30 000 more expensive than normal LED technology, and I bet you won't even notice the difference. Or, as the article points out "...which render as much as a 30% increase in the visible spectrum, while using 30 to 50% less power when compared to normal LCD displays" whatever the hell that even means.

So basically you have a TV that is capable of being "better" in some way by 30%, uses 50% less power off of an appliance that already doesn't use too much power, for 100%+ the price. Yeah sorry the math does not match on this one. Only a fool with too much money will even look at buying something like this

But yeah, your argument seems valid. I've been looking at anything approaching an affordable/reasonable price for an average UHD TV, but so far I haven't seen anything that perks my interest.
