I can already see myself cleaning cat fur out of the filter/mesh on weekends.

You know how thick that "screen" would then have to be?

I dont think it would have to be too thick? The biggest item in a classic pc case (As we know them now) is the PSU and thats only because we keep designing for the known form factor. Looking at server technologies you can get PSUs small enough for a 1U rack that is more than powerful enough for a high-end gaming rig. That leaves the GFX card so with a little bit of clever designing the widest part of the entire machine would be as wide as you GFX card added to the thickness of the display itself. As pointed out iMac has shown the design principals so if I would have to guess, size would not be the biggest hindrance here?

Cooling is the biggest factor in how cases look and are designed Nvidia's 15nm and AMD's 14nm chips mean the cards are more energy efficient and so smaller heat sinks. If Intel release their 10nm next year we can expect to see backpack pc's for on-the-go VR experiences.

The new generation card already mean new generation laptops will have full desktop graphics cards and not some tweaked down version to extend battery life or reduce overheating.

Microsoft Hololens is a fully functioning stand alone unit as is.

We going to see more powerful devices popping up every where.
