well Fifa 10 was released in 09( and all other yearly sport titles from EA) ,so rugby 2012 will be released in 2011 which makes it perfect to be released alongside the word cup

Glad to see I'm not the only one looking forward to it

That is correct, the WC only starts in September so there might be small chance that they get released together.

About the American football - I've played madden from back in the day on my sega megadrive and it is a very confusing game if you do not know the game, once you get to know it its actually very rewarding.

Many people ever the years have said that they should take the madden engine, modify it a bit and take it over to a rugby game.

I think that Rugby 2008 was released in September 2007, with the World Cup, so I assume the same thing will happen with Rugby 2012.

As for American Football, it's actually quite a cool sport once you learn the rulles. It's like Rugby League on crack.

EA sports only invests real effort into the american sports and into soccer. Every single NFL game ive played has been brilliant but then again i know what goes on in american sports so it helps.

But the best rugby game by far was Jonah Lomu rugby on the playstation 1 way back.

i was actually wondering who would pick up the title, i heard sometime afgo that EA had lost thier licence to produce the game. I am glad to see they got it back, though four years after the last release everyone would be expecting alot from this title. i am really amped to see that this game is back, as with all in this thread fingers crossed and hope to see one awesome game.

Can't wait for this but I hope they do a good job. I was impressed with EA's last rugby title but it had it's weak points. Lets hope this company will look at the previous rugby games and make the best one we're ever seen!

The rules of rugby are so complex and sometimes subtle though. Won't it translate into pretty messy game play for lack of a better term?

Not really, they have been making rugby games since 1995 and apart from rugby 2003 they have pretty much done a decent job at adapting the sport into a game. They have simplified it obviously, players going off their feet/side entry or not rolling away at ruck time has never really featured in a video game even though it plays a big part of the game in real life.

There has also been a lot of talk around the subject of drop goals as it is very difficult to aim straight ahead from a side-on camera, this is something that no rugby game has ever been able to implement effectively.
