Rumors about Bethesda's E3 conference are suggesting the publisher will announce a fully-revamped (right down to the title) Prey 2, Wolfenstein 2, Evil Within 2 and a current-gen remaster of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.
As is traditional just before the huge event where all the games are announced, people are currently talking a lot about what games will be announced at the huge event. This particular vein of hot rumour-juice seems to have emanated from noted industry insider Shinobi602, who appeared on the H.A.M Radio Podcast last Sunday.
Speaking about Bethesda's conference during the episode, Shinobi said, "that Prey 2 reboot is definitely going to be there [...] it's not called Prey 2, they definitely reworked it completely", comparing its gameplay style to System Shock. He followed that up by saying, “I would expect a - how should I say it - remaster of sorts for something.”
On the former, it's been fairly clear that Dishonored sister studio, Arkane Austin has been working on a Prey 2 project of some kind, so beyond the apparent retitling, this is no huge surprise. Prey 2 has been a stuttering project since its well-received original trailer at E3 2011.
The latter, however, is a little more complex. After the podcast went live, GamePro reported Shinobi's quote specifically with regard to a Skyrim remaster. Another seeming insider, Enter The Dragon Punch (who was also involved in yesterday's Dead Rising 4 leak) took to NeoGAF to say "it's real" and that it would include all DLC, improved visuals and mods - possibly using the same technology as Fallout 4's console mods system being trialed on Xbox One.
Finally, Eurogamer has said that it understands the Skyrim and Prey 2 rumours to be true - and threw a few more logs onto the fire the Internet is now fanning happily. Alongside those games, Eurogamer also expects to sequels to Wolfenstein: the New Order and Shinji Mikami's The Evil Within.
We had already heard tell of a new Wolfenstein from a voice actress in 2015 - considering she was saying it would take "two more years" back then, that lines up nicely with a plausible 2017 release.
It won't be long until we find out just how much of this turns out to be true - Bethesda's press conference will take place this Sunday, June 12. You can find out all the timings for your region on our E3 press conference guide.
