She's reading too much into it, it's part of the narrative, I think.
Yep, the line of thinking is very similar to this article.
She's saying that it sucks but it's probably exactly what would happen in real life.
Okay seriously, lets look at this from another perspective.
Reader response: This is a good fantasy series, it touches on many aspects of the human condition. Greed, sexuality, violence, religion and power struggles. This is much like the world we live in today, it is simply mirrored into a TV series that features an alternative universe. - Game of Thrones is a good show.
Marxist: The base of the series in essence is the characters whom are fighting earnestly against their "supposed" oppressors, they wish to free themselves from the chains of oppression. Albeit their oppressors seems to be different depending on the characters allegiances. Sadly the real focus; the common people are left in a constant struggle against the rich and powerful. There is hope from Daenerys stormborn. - A slighty unorthodox example of the Marxist struggle, with no sign of moving forward.
Feminist: This show is a classical example of patriarchy. The only glimpse of hope we see is Daenerys stormborn, who sadly is surrounded by men. Whom serve as her advisers, so she is still controlled by a patriarchy despite her position. Every other female character is used sexually, and men rule over them all. - This show is misinterpreting women's roles, it has a massive patriarchal influence.
Modernism: The lack of a true narrator in this saga is pleasing, all of the characters play vital roles in the series, however never seem to agree with one another. They are constantly in forms of unrest, colliding into one another but never actually coming to a unified truth. Most of the characters thoughts are never concealed and hearts are worn on their sleeves, while paradox is almost nonexistent. - A semi-firm piece of modernism.
Plato: It's all fake. You have all been fooled! - Need I still supply proof?
Queer theory: Ser Loras Tyrell was the one who would break the wall of gender oppression, sadly due to the society that he lives in it is seen as taboo and was thus murdered for being sexually free. Ser Loras Tyrell served as a beacon of hope, alas he too was cast into dungeons for his views did not align with that of the church. Men and woman are assigned gender roles much like any other society - A brave attempt but falls short and into the conventional gender traps.
Darwinian: The Art of Dying. - Memnto Mori
Russian formalism: The use of defamiliarization in the series helps the viewers observe the world in a new light. Everything done in the show is done in real life. Viewing the show could open your eyes to the horrors of the real world. - Don't listen to those Marxist fascist pigs!
Post colonialism: The wildlings are a prime example of this. They are classified as savages and barbarians but they are also human and simply because they choose to live outside of what society classifies as normal they are persecuted. Jon Snow is the hero whom will bring the two opposing peoples together in order to nullify the greater threat. - While it is not based on any real world examples, there is a definite movement of the oppressor and the oppressed.
