You can't multi-SLI Nvidia's GeForce GTX 1080 and GTX 1070
Only 2-way SLI gaming will be supported on Nvidia's new range of Pascal cards.

Anything more than 2 is overkill anywayat least for the majority of us here, right?

I've never had the chance to bench a multi-card setup, but from what I've read the performance increase is not nearly as much going from 2 -> 3 (or 4) cards as it is going from 1 -> 2 cards.
Also, I may have misunderstood the whole thing but this is only if you have a 3/4 card SLI setup without a key. If you do get the key from Nvidia, you can still have a fully functional setup with multiple cards. But those are first world problems. I can't even afford even 1 GTX 1080, never mind 3.
**Edit**:
Nvidia did originally plan to release an enthusiast key for 3 or 4 way SLI but it seems they have now completely abandoned those plans.

One day, I'll grow up and become responsible.
Probably not today.
