NOt really phased by this. I've already pre-ordered the game, and this news will not stop me from getting and enjoying the game I feel. Plus, Overwatch has microtransaction in it and people are okay with that.
BF4 has microtransactions so why would BF1 be any different.

The only microtransactions BF4 has is the battlepacks you can buy. Other than that, premium or the maps apart.
I'll stop repeating myself....but I am worried about Bf1...I'm not pre-ordering BF this time. Want to see more, there's a live streaming this Sunday, LevelCap and some other guys playing.
I am not too worried like you say BF only ever had battlepack micro-transactions. So nothing in the pay-to-win area.
Since BF4's disastrous launch and the way they managed to turn it around by talking and working with the community, I have faith that BF1 will not make the big mistake of adding micro transactions to the game that would break from what they've done in the past.
xfactor, levelcap, matimio, and jackfrags are some of the guys at the event and I know have spoken about pay-to-win in their videos and their thoughts and feelings, so I hope EA are listening to these guys like they claim they are.
BF1 may go the CS:GO and Overwatch way of having to pay for cosmetic skins but the core gameplay won't be affected by how much cash you throw at the game, but only time will tell.
