Like the article states without competition games get bad, look at any industry for that matter. Competition can give value to your product

No Thanks. I don't want any company owing monopoly of a single platform.

Like others have stated - monopoly = BAAAD.

I like that they have to compete and keep trying to top each other.

Despite the war between console owners and pc users for games, i think if the console generation should end it would echo in a general decline in overall gaming, many users do not enjoy PC gaming cause of the complex layout of keys and need to use the mouse. (I do not fall into this category) In general many people opt console to avoid the upgrade cost that the PC presents in keeping up with next gen games, and also for the ability to pop the disc in and play. If this catergory falls away, i doubt that people will continue to play games on the scale they play.

I also agree with the above if there is one platform it limits competition and therefore creates stagnation in the industry which would make games boring and all the same.

Maybe I’m just not with it or am simply a crap gaming journalist
Its the latter. Your article completely misses the point the guy was trying to make. Basically the whole article is your boring attempt at sarcasm based on the misinterpretation of a statement.

The end of coles as we know them and their replacement by an OnLive-type service need not bring with it a decline in the quality of games. There will still
be a number of development houses vying to create the best possible gaming experience on the current Cloud Gaming hardware...we might even find that
more than one Cloud Gaming Service sets up shop, possibly with different hardware. Instant Competition.
    Just my 5 Zim cents.

My idea of the "Death of Gaming" is when it's popularity collapces, the casual market will swtich to the next big hipster thing, and gaming will return to what it was, the hobby of the "outcast". That's the day that I dream of, thats when games will become great again. And this falls in on all platforms, PC and console.

The singularity is about to explode! Weapons are at maximum.
