The AMD Radeon RX 480 has massive power problems

The RX 480 draws a high amount of power through the PCIe slot on the motherboard, which could lead to system instability and damage.

Yay, just as i bought this on launchday.

Hopefully a firmware update can ease things a bit?

I doubt it will, I'm sure most motherboards will be able to handle the extra voltage and, if anything, the PC will probably just shut down

Yeah, that's my thoughts too for most motherboards. I'm more concerned about the "budget" motherboard manufacturers that might have cut a corner somewhere and could potentially be vulnerable to damage on a voltage surge.

People will still buy the RX480 despite the issues.

GTX970 had a problem and yet it was still quite a popular card, still is nowadays
