Why does it take so long for stuff to trickle through to NetflixZA? Is it that stuff needs to be rated or checked via the FPB?

Finally, I can know what the fuss is about with Vikings, heard it's good.

Stuff usually gets to Netflix later than they actually appear on TV. Netflix doesn't load a series until the whole series is complete. Showmax on the other hand to track some series live, adding episodes as they are released by the studios. So there is that firstly

Then we have the licensing and regional bollocks that needs to be ironed out before any series or movies can be added to Netflix or Showmax. Both rely on relationships with the studios to try and get this time cut as short as possible

Then you get the rating agencies, as any and all content must be vetted by them. Usually due to the lag from the above mentioned processes, the FPB does get to rating the series and movies, and they are free to be shown. With Netflix original series it's another story, as they have not had another avenue of publication to have gone through the FPB rating space. What I have found personally though is that brand new Netflix original content does get added rather fast. Not too much lag from the USA release.

This isn't true anymore, it's why Netflix paid R800k, so they can self regulate when releasing in SA.

Only seasons 1 and 2. I need to start on 3 now and continue to 4 after that...

I look forward to when my ShowMax 90 days arrive. Can then decide if I'll stick with DSTV or not.

Other than the sport, you won't have the need for DSTV again. Not with Showmax. I've been having Showmax and Netflix for a while now, and while it is only the South African Netflix. And I have to say, the offering of content on Showmax is way better than SA Netflix. By a very big margin. These days I don't even open up Netflix if I want to watch something, as I am way too invested in the Showmax content. My DSTV is getting the ax on the 12th after my family comes for a visit. I simply don't see the point in having DSTV for myself anymore. All I'll do is add that wad of cash to my internet budget and increase my cap

Have you ever though about adding Crunchy Roll, for those who watch anime or J-Dramas?
