I was at the launch of the Currie Cup season today, Nashua will sponsor the Currie Cup for the next three years, and unfortunately the 1st round will also start on the same weekend as the Super Rugby final so if the Lions make the Super Rugby final they will have to play Currie Cup without their Super Rugby players

I saw that and I can only assume that Saru didnt think a SA team would make the Super rugby finals. But the lions traveling to Kimberley for game one would be very tough with a B side. But as Saru has said. If they can play super rugby with a B team they should be able to handle curriecup.

But I still think it was a silly oversight from Saru.

PS : when the sharks look dead and buried they managed to make the final after traveling 3 times. So they could potentially still do it

I guess anything can happen in the knock-out stages!

Yeah but let's be honest, it's going to be Lions and 3x NZ teams in the semis, and an all-New Zealand finals.

So you don't give the Lions a chance in the Semis? We will probably play the Highlanders if we can get past the Crusaders

A chance, sure. But slightly less than 50% chance, I'd say, so chances are it'll be an all-NZ final. Then again, it depends on how their form in the quarters are.

So, after this weekend where the Lions decimated one of the best teams in the competition, and nogals a NZ team at that as well, do you still think it's only a 50% chance for them? Of the 3 teams remaining, the Highlanders are perhaps the weakest, and I don't really see the Lions go down against them, at Ellis Park, on their current form.

I'll pick the Lions because of the Highlander's crazy schedule. They've traveled so much these last four weeks. They must be so tired by now.

Yeah man I've got to say, the Lions played superb rugby this weekend. I'm on board the hype train now, they're definitely getting a final. Not sure if they'll win it, but I think their chances of reaching the finals skyrocketed for me after this weekend.
