Well, movies that I watched for the plot twists (and those are generally my favourite movies), I DON'T watch more than once (the Sixth Sense, for instance, or Fracture). The article assumes a LOT about the people in the "study", such as that people only watch for the story or the satisfaction of it all making sense. Most comedies (and even a lot of drama) literally go against this point by pointing out the ludicrous and the jarring, making all those movies irrelevant to the "study".why do we watch movies we like more than once?
I agree that spoilers sometimes add to the satisfaction of a movie, but because people find joy in different things from movies it's very unfair to assume that everyone SHOULD enjoy movies more if they're spoiled. I would, for instance, be very pissed if someone told me the ending of Sixth Sense before I started watching it; the flashback after the revelation does exactly what the "fluency" reasoning behind this article does.
"It's not worth doing something unless you were doing something that someone, somewere, would much rather you weren't doing." - Sir Terry Pratchett
Bollie. If you told me how season 5 of Suits was gonna end before I watched it, I would have smacked you with a hammer.
They study was conducted on literature, without context the passages that the subjects read are somewhat meaningless. They only got more enjoyment out of it when the passages they read was put into a complete story, which brought the passage into context.
Anton Chekhov and Roald Dahl mostly wrote comedy's and Chekhov write dramatic plays too. Additionally how is it that Comedy's and Drama's go against this point by pointing out the ludicrous and the jarring? Seems like your statement is contradicting itself a little.
If perhaps, the movie or series in question drags on for too long in my opinion and the plot 'twist' is revealed, i would actually feel relieved and would no longer have to continue watching it. But if it is something i enjoy, i don't want any spoilers.

I generally like spoilers. Sometimes a series or something will lose steam for me and then a friend tells me about something that is going to happen and I actually want to keep watching to see it for myself. This is not always the case as there are some things I do not want spoiled, but I'm mostly not against spoilers.

I try to enjoy a game movie relatively spoiler free because I like the surprises - but the last time I genuinely enjoyed a twist that I didn't see coming was in KOTOR. Really people freak out way more than necessary with spoilers.
The comic where superman dies was called The Death of Superman. The title spoiled the ending and everyone enjoyed it fine. Now put basically the same story, call it BvS and god forbid you spoil someone's experience by saying superman dies at the end. Oh, spoiler btw
I still haven't seen the new Star Wars, and I think I've gotten all the spoilers from 9gag, but I'm not upset and I'm probably still going to enjoy it when I get around to it.
I just recently watched the movie Seven. Only reason I watched it was because I saw something about it's ending on Youtube.
