It sounds as though they believe it'll be a better game because it'll be more twitch-shooting oriented rather than strategic. That doesn't really = better, it's just a different approach. Some would argue it's a step backwards. The engine could definitely be a major step forward for cross-platform optimisation. By all accounts it's a seamless transition from xbox->ps3->PC, just requires tweaking to hardware requirements. I also foresee the next ID engine (ID Tech 5), the basis of Rage, being a step forwards ... but somehow I feel they're going to do big things with the cryengine 3.
Omega I'm sorry but I disagree with you on the gameplay/physics of Crysis. Edge magazine scored both Crysis games very highly. Playing them on high difficulty levels is a very careful, strategic experience. And the physics of blowing up the environment were fantastic. It wasn't a cookie cutter shooter at all - varying the suit's abilities on the fly in combat was quite innovative.
