It looks impressive... Just concerned about the pricing. Let's hope they don't put a huge local mark-up on this one too.

Local pricing makes the 1060 a no brainier sadly. If it was priced more like the US/EU then it would be an more attractive deal.

    EDIT

Okay after looking at the local pricing at present (Wootware) The GTX 1060 is going for R5200 and the RX 470 is going for R4000. Considering this, the RX 470 is a better price per R card at 1080p. How ever if you are willing to spend R1200 more you will also get a card that is definitely more powerful. How ever that R1200 is a lot of money for people on a budget. Personally I am vouching for the RX 470 as it will see better performance with DX12 and currently is beating all the last gen AMD and Nvidia cards.

Completely agree, problem is you only get the R4k at Wootware after a R1k discount. If the regular price is going to be R5k, it makes no sense to buy a 470 rather than a 480 or GTX1060.

It could be that it is an advertising ploy, it also does not state that is on special or discounted or not. The Saphire RX 470 Nitro+ is going for R4200, without a 'discount' on the price. How ever the prices may change.

Also have the bad economy and exchange rates as well as limited stock to blame for the pricing. Looking at other countries the pricing is vastly different, US pricing seems to be on par slightly with some EU countries complaining. I never buy hardware on launch anyway, it's prices are pushed up due to the demand.

The Asus Strix and the Sapphire Nitro are more in line with what I would expect. The PowerColor one however has 4999 struck out and replaced by 3999 with a "Save 1000" notice printed there. Since this is the one that was linked in the MyGaming article, I assumed they would normally sell for R5000, which is way too close to the RX480 or GTX1060.

To be clear, I know that local electronics prices are high; I'm talking about the price of the 470 in relation to the next tier of cards.

The pricing on the RX 470 is closer to the RX 480 and GTX 1060 due to it being new and having limited stock as well as the fact that manufactures will apply their maximum mark up to sell the product, as it enters the market. If it was a perfect word then most of the the RX 470's would be much cheaper much like the Powercolor one going at R3999.

Well if the retailers are to be believed, they have no stock at all on the 480 or 1060...

Anyhow, if the 470 retails for R1000 or more less than either of those two, it's definitely worth a look.
