You ever played that game "Never Have I Ever"?

With news that Steam, PSN, and Amazon are giving refunds for No Man's Sky regardless of playtime, I thought it would be interesting to see how many people have asked for a refund on a game before.

If you did, did you receive the refund?

I've not asked for a refund before, but I did cancel my Modern Warfare 2 pre-order when Activision revealed that it would not have LAN play.

I refunded Arkham Knight once they let us refund it no questions asked(after basically admitting this is final product we aren't gonna work on it anymore).

I've never asked for a refund and probably never will. In general I don't pre-order games and I don't buy games that have just released. So by the time I get to them they've been patched and good to play.

The only time I will ask for a refund is the game doesn't work at all. That luckily, hasn't happened yet.

Just a small R54 Lego title from the last Steam sale, I just didn't like the game. And received my monies back into my Steam wallet.

Only 2 games in my life:
1: Farcry 3 (Got to the end and the game would crash everytime) - Very unsuccessful in getting refund due to hours played.
2: The Division (Got to try out the beta and it wasn't for me) - Got the refund due to it being a pre-order.

I've asked for refunds (3 in total this year...so far).
I've been refunded every single time without a problem.

I buy a lot and I mean a lot of new releases and I almost always buy 2 copies (One for myself and one for the gf). Considering I've spent around 10k on new releases and pre orders (PC gaming only), I'd say 3 refunds out of the lot is actually surprising.

If anything the steam refund policy has led to me buying more games.

0 refunds here, but it has more to do with how, what and when I buy. I seldom buy before release. I generally want to watch some gameplay footage BEFORE i make a purchase. If I can try before I buy either a demo or by other means I'll do that. So by the time I actually end up buying something I'm relatively sure that it is exactly what I want. I also tend to wait for GOTY type editions as I get better bang for my buck.

I ask for refunds all the time, always within the Steam parameters. I've refunded multiple games since Steam started it. Steam has a bit of an issue with developers misrepresenting their games or their games not matching what Steam reviews would have you believe. Here's my list of refunded games from 2016 according to my gmail inbox:

Monstrum (black screen when I attempted to play)
Reigns (decided to rather get it on mobile)
Gloria Victis (unplayable ping. Good thing too because the user reviews tanked shortly after)
Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number (technical issues that went unsolved since release)
STAR WARSâ„¢ Republic Commando (can't remember why I refunded this)
Ashes of the Singularity (Beta) (game was boring as shit)
Crest (can't even remember this one)

That's just from this year. Overall the refund system is a godsend. Normally I would get stuck with all these games. I'm now a lot more willing to buy a game to try it out than I was before. Taking risks has become less of an issue.

No Mans Sky
Watch Dogs
Styx

Those were my three refunds.

I give most games a few hours before I decide whether or not they're worth the time investment - but with those three I knew right away they weren't for me.

Since they enabled refunds I've actually bought and played and enjoyed some games that were complete unknowns. Wouldn't have gotten them even if I didn't have refunds to fall back on.

And refunds also prevent me from building a backlog of games I bought and never even started (because of refund window). So now almost every game I buy will get played soonish.

Not once.

I usually have an idea of what it is I want before the purchase.
I won't make a purchase if I am unsure of whether or not I want it.

I've never asked for a refund for a game but I did request one for a CSGO case key that I had bought. Uncharacteristically I decided to take a gamble and open one of my cases. What I didn't realise is that you need a specific key for a specific case - and I bought the generic CSGO case key.
Emailed Steam support to get told that they don't offer refunds on in-game items. So I landed up selling it - but made back less thanks to Valve's cut.
