People got refunds by making Steam tickets instead of going through the automated system. We had people posting proof of their refunds on the Steam forums. Steam only started denying refunds after the thing blew up completely, but even so people are still reporting refunds being accepted.

That's because the original article (and your posts actually) were incorrect. Steam has and always will look at refunds based on the ticket system. Its just that games under 1 week/2 hour playtime will be AUTOMATICALLY refunded, no questions asked.

There are many examples of people getting refunds for OTHER games without adhering to those things...but it seems its the craze to jump on the No Man's Sky bandwagon and involve it somehow

EDIT: also, steam didnt deny refunding people...they denied total blanket refunding as those articles were quoted as saying.
