Very surprising news has been leaked from the popular Facebook game company Zynga. A reliable anonymous source sent Tech Crunch information about Zynga making a shocking move by leaving the popular social network website, Facebook. The message that was sent to Tech Crunch:
Pincus announced at a 5pm meeting yesterday at Zynga that Zynga was going to launch a social game network called Zynga Live. The Zynga Live initiative was a social gaming network. Facebook and Zynga has been negotiating on Facebook Credits and the talks turned for the worst. In the negotiation process, Facebook shut off Zynga’s feeds and threatened to shut down games. Zynga in the process threatened to completely leave Facebook and prepared to do so in the previous upcoming weeks.
You might know Zynga from its’ popular games FarmVille, Mafia Wars, or almost any other game that ends with the word Ville, that is played on Facebook. Alone Zyngas’ farm simulator game, FarmVille has become a large asset to the Facebook company, with over 82.4 million active users playing through Facebook and has been ranked as Facebook top game. FarmVille and other Zynga games can be played for free or users can purchase Facebook Credits or FarmVille credits with real money to purchase digital upgrades or decorations in a game.
Many people predict that the brewing troubles in between Facebook and Zynga, was caused by the 30% tax to Facebook for each time Facebook Credits are spent. If Zynga does make this move away from Facebook, then they will be able to avoid this 30% tax and earn more revenue. Also if Zynga makes the move, then Facebook users can take a breather from the constant Farmville, MafiaWars, or any other invite or feed spam.
The only people that will probably lose in this situation is Facebook, which will probably not be affected the company drastically as they have over four hundred million active users. As for Zynga, they will probably move everything to their main FarmVille site, with their 82.4 million fans following right behind.
Do you guys think this will hurt Facebook or is this something that wasn’t necessary in the first place? Comment below and let us know.
