Lightbulb Ways to decrease packet loss on iburst?

Hi, I've started playing starcraft 2 recently and I noticed that I have unstable lag constantly through out the game , is there a way to decrease packet loss on iburst or make my starcraft 2 game use more bandwidth as it uses 6mb for a 20minute match currently, cause right now I can't exactly play without battle ping...

I was also thinking an alternative local vpn might work or a proxy, anyone know anything?

Assuming you're using a router, try manually setting your MTU to 1392.

Just set the MTU to 1392, I think it might've helped a bit, although there is no noticable difference the lag is still there...
    Anymore suggestion are welcome

perhaps you can do a trace route to figure out where your picking up most of your lag

how would you do that? sorry I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to tracing

Well to start off, I havent played SC2 yet is it peer to peer or are the games hosted by a dedicated server?

If its a dedicated server you need to find its address(example.sc2.host18.com) or IP address either would work, then simple open a command prompt (start->run->"cmd"->enter) and type:

    tracert example.sc2.host18.com
    or
    tracert 143.122.32.88

^^ are example hostnames and IP addresses, you need to find.
If its peer to peet based then its going to be diffrent everytime so you'll need to do a few trace routes to determine the cause, but it will most likely be in the first 5 hops.

To find peer-to-peer addresses or even the deticated server address go to command promp and type in

    netstat -a

this will list all open connections, start up sc2 and get yourself in a game, minimize the game and open another command promp window, once again type in

    netstat -a

from this you should be able to see what connection is new and running (can also google for info like what ports sc2 uses so you can more easilt find the connection.

All of this will just give you info on where your picking up lag, better understanding of the problem will give you new aprouches to tackle it, although I'm not sure how you'll be able to improve the lag appart from bitching to iburt :/ When you get the above working post your trace route results so we can have a look

It's a peer to peer game, I got these results through playing the AI on starcraft 2
I even lag when playing the AI...

So I figured that if I lag when I play the AI then it must mean that there is a specific server I probably have to link to.

    With netstat -a

I then couldn't see much with this, so I used netlimiter 2 monitor instead

I read up that Starcraft 2 uses the ports 1119 and 1118

    With NetLimiter 2 Monitor

I also use a wireless hub to connect to my iburst, my signal to my iburst is very good this I know cause when I ping my hub I get 1 or less ms constantly.. that's also why in the netstats theres a ip for 192.168.0.17

Seems it might a problem when it switches from the local iBurst routing to the intnl. routing.

There's some odd routhing in this first few hops on iburst, but from the looks of it your going to be a bit stuck, gaming on wireless is not ideal, especially not when your playing international. Your picking up just under around 80-100ms before leaving the country on my 384 line inside SA is always around 50-60ms. That actual international swithching is fine I remeber back when I was playing AoC it was also around 350-500. Not sure what you can do to speed things up since your incuring a +30ms from what you would ideally like to get locally. Those iburst switches are kak also. Best I think would to go with a landline, its still the fastest (latency wise) for gaming
