Default AMD To Attack Performance Desktop Market With RYZEN

AMD To Attack Performance Desktop Market With RYZEN

I'm quite excited at this news. This can surely introduce competition back into the CPU market and that will be a good thing for Intel fans and AMD fans in the long run.

Colour me excited. If Ryzen can indeed keep pace with a $1000 i7, we have a real battle on our hands.

I just hope that the usual SA sales bias towards whoever the bigger player is doesn't price AMD out of the market.

    Ditto!

I plan to upgrade my current FX system to Ryzen as soon as it's available, I just hope AM4 boards will be available locally when the time comes. While I plan to get my new CPU and RAM from the US I'd hate to have to risk importing a board as well because suppliers took too long to bring any in.

I think the sweet spot (price wise) for AMD would be to push an i7 6900 competitor at around US$1000 with mid-to-high end processors in the ZAR 4000 - 10000 range when they become available.

The question around performance in a controlled test environment is definitely answered. I still want to see real world performance once all the tweaks and enhancements are done.

Hang on, the 6900 already sells for $1000. AMD need to come in below that to stand any chance of wrestling back some market share.

I'm keen to see pricing of the 4 core / 8 thread models. That will be the sweet spot for an upgrade to my current rig.

Yeah i cant wait to to start seeing some real preformance tests to see how good this rly is. Then people can stop gibing me flac for veing an amd fanboy. And to see what the mobo's are going to ve like has me excited. But price bothers me a bit too so we'll have to se3 what its hoing to be like here at home.

Surprised no one has commented on this yet:

Still not 100% confirmed as legit, but there have been several sources over the past few days posting similar numbers.

Until we have final confirmed pricing and actual real world performance numbers I'm not getting anywhere near remotely excited.
