The official info is finally out, at least for the 7 series Ryzen chips. Seems WCCFTech had it right all along.

Same prices on Rebeltech so that seems to be the RRP for the launch. It's probably best to wait a bit after for supply/demand to stabilise and better prices to come in.

Probably a good idea to wait for some 3rd party reviews as well.
One day, I'll grow up and become responsible.
    Probably not today.

Bang on what I estimated, even slightly cheaper. The markup is not that high on the retailer side, most of the increase over the dollar price is due to VAT and import duties. If you grab the 1700, you're getting a chip with double the cores of a 7700k for R600 less.

Either way, I'm waiting for the 4 core 8 thread models, which should be lots more affordable.

w00t! The hype is real! In case you missed it:

Pre-orders are up around the world, but here are the initial ones for South Africa as listed on AMD's site:

    Evetech (Desktop) | Evetech | Rebeltech | Titan-Ice | Wootware

The 1800X is already sold out on Amazon, but for the short duration they had it in stock I added it to my basket to see how it compares to our local pricing and once the import fee deposit was added it only worked out R100 cheaper. Otherwise it looks like I wasn't wrong; no Gigabyte boards available at launch. Thanks Rectron. Looks like it will be a Crosshair VI Hero for me.

Is it really worh it to pay almost R2k more for the 1800x? for just 200mhz faster.
1700x seems to be the better value for money.

You'll probably get better OC results on the 1800X? I am patiently waiting on the R3/5 series, but at the current price of the R7 1700 it looks like a no brainier. There are also rumblings about a RX 5xx series coming too. That will probably be relieved next week at the "Capsaicin" event AMD is having.

    *EDIT*
As far as I can tell the X series has a higher extended frequency range, like a auto-overclocker which can go past the base boost clocks. This is dependant on cooling, and why the X series don't come with coolers? We will have to see next week when reviews are out.
