well this would explain why i don't see the 360 being advertised in GAME's rag every week that comes with the local paper.

Play games, not platforms
Anyone considered the follwoing though:
We might not be seeing Xbox ads on weekly promotion sheets from retailers simply due to the fact that with the relatively small margins on consoles in general and the fact that Xbox 360 has been priced into a relatively narrow channel at present, that reatilers simply can't cut down pricing on it anymore?
Even though the consoles may not be advertised as much, walk into Any store except those that have ditched it, and you'll find at least one or two of the consoles
See i would be willing to believe retailers are "shunning" the xbox if there was any actual proof of it. In CT we have Canal Walk, the biggest mall in the western cape with a ginrmous Musica & Look and Listen. There is also a tiny BT and a sligtly larger BT at a smaller mall. Not in not one of these stores are the PS3 section larger than the xbox sections, In Look & Listen an entire wall is dedicated to Xbox where as a slightly smaller shelve holds the PS3 titles. In the Musica the two display area's are also equally matched. Even in the BT's there is no visual indication that anybody is shunning anything. Maybe a retailer like Pick n Pay or Game or Hyper-rama (Do you still get those?) is shunning it but in all honesty... who buys there games there?
Ultimately all the used copies could be seen as lost sales.
I borrow from friends and generally only buy used. My price limit is R200, although in rare cases I'll spend a bit more. There is no way a game that might, if I am really lucky, take 15 hours to play is worth R700.
If people have the patience, they can just wait a few months until games drop from R700 to R200 - R400. It's how I've been able to carry on gaming. Gaming is a very elite thing and there are very little people, especially in this country, who can enjoy what console gaming has to offer. And PC games are ridiculous too because you first have to make sure that you own your R20 000 rig that can play the games of today, not to mention that you will probably have to get a new on in two years or so, whereas consoles last a helluva lot longer, and you'll only be paying about R4000 for them.
As for the whole shunning thing, I think it's about time that it happened as so many people these days are putting their trust back in Sony because they actually know how to make a quality console that will satisfy those of us here who like gaming for more than two hours at a time. Honestly, it puts a spike in my back to think that Microsoft still released something they knew was pretty flawed. Why couldn't they have just fixed it before it came onto the market...?
You only need a hugely expensive PC if you want to play the latest games at high resolutions. I use the same low resolution I get out of my console.
This thread makes a lot of sense now. We were in Menlyn shopping centre the other day and went into the Reggies toy store to check out what they have. We noticed they were not stocking a single XBOX 360 item but loads of PS3 and Wii goodies. Hmmm. Hope this isn't a sign of things to come.
My ignore list: growing too fast to keep updating.
they stopped selling more than year ago!
