Head-to-head matches last between five and ten minutes, and focus on thoughtful decision-making and strategic positioning. Players are rewarded with new battle units every monthly season.

Assemble your battle deck from over 400 cards across 6 unique Factions and test your mettle against other players online in ranked season ladder and draft mode tournaments.
I've heard a bit about this game although the CCG element initially put me off. I was intrigued by the turn-based strategy part and it was the pixel art that finally convinced me to give it a go and I'm glad that I did.



The game is a lot of fun and strikes the perfect balance between planning, chance and improvisation. The objective is to kill the enemy general before they kill yours. The turn-based strategy plays out on a grid so positioning plays a big role as well as using the special card traits and spells.

I've had some great matches where it's looked like I was going to lose badly but with a bit of improv and lucky card draws I was able to win in the end. It feels really satisfying to outwit your opponent when he thinks he's about to win.

The 6 different races are nicely varied and have different advantages and disadvantages with their unique play styles. My preferred race at the movement are the Vetruvians:
