    Default Mirror's Edge Catalyst

I've been looking forward to play this game and now with the free 7 days of Origin Access I decided it was time to give it a go and see what I thought about it.

The game came out to pretty decent reviews, not faultless but good. The main thing was the joy of first-person parkour travel and the striking aesthetic were still there, now just bigger in an open world. I am a huge fan of the Original Mirror's Edge, I loved it for it's uniqueness and because I really enjoy first-person platformers.

After playing through roughly 5 hours so far I can say that I really love this game. It's more Mirror's Edge and that's all I could have asked for. The open world works well for picking a destination and running, jumping and sliding fluidly to get there. As much as critics have disliked the main story and characters, I've actually found it interesting. The main missions are nicely varied, going to all sorts of locations and a lot of the side missions are really fun. This is the one game where delivery and fetch quests are perfectly in line with the concept of the game (with Faith being an off-the-grid runner, i.e. delivery girl).

I have been playing with the Runner's Vision switched off (full shows you the trail to run, classic highlights in red certain jumps, poles etc. on the route like the original) which I highly recommend. It can make it quite tough when you have a short time to deliver a package but after a while your own "runner's eye" becomes quite trained at picking an efficient route.

All I can say is that if you enjoyed the original Mirror's Edge then Catalyst is definitely a must play!

p.s. It also helps that the game looks amazing and runs steadily at 60 FPS.

I see it's marked down on XBL and have been pondering it. I did really enjoy the first one and have been ansie for Catalyst but was never prepared to drop 900 bucks on it.

Mirrors Edge was pretty cool...until the parts where there where people shooting at me & I can't shoot back. Didn't enjoy that.

I'm rather enjoying it, you spurred me into getting it as I really have been wanting to since pre-release. This game really nails the momentum more so than most games do.

Awesome! Ya they definitely nailed down the feel of building up momentum and flowing over the rooftops.
