Combat makes it sound so dirty, like they are trying to steel something from us. Something like -Publishers working to combat second-hand market
- would sound less aggressive IMHO.Publishers working to cut-out the second-hand market
These people are digging themselves into a hole. And that hole isn't gonna stay stable forever.
The singularity is about to explode! Weapons are at maximum.
Really getting wary of Ubisoft now (EA and Blizzard-Activision are on the rise as well). I wonder where this shift to kill the 2nd hand console market will end. Will gamers do what they usually do, which is make a huge fuss, post on all sorts of forums in a frothing rage, sign petitions, and then still go buy the game(s)? Or will they actually start voting with their wallets?
Personally I am going off these companies FAST-like, and I am holding onto my cash more and more. Once I would have bought on impulse, or just take a chance on a game, but now I wait and see, an usually end up getting it cheaper (2nd hand, or wait a few months).
This industry is getting far too big for itself. The profit margins needed to succeed are just getting crazy, whereby these companies are now looking for every conceivable way to milk another cent out of their customers.
By 'combat the secondhand market' they mean only permit the code to be activated once. So if your PC crashes and you've already activated the game, you've 'ad it matey. Any bets on how this move is going to impact piracy?
