All recently manufactured SKUs should be packing the Jasper chipset, including whatever they're calling the Arcade SKU these days. It was a global upgrade.

As for online gaming, it kinda depends what you're playing. Games like Halo 3 are very light on bandwidth consumption - typically around 15-20 MB/hour - while Modern Warfare 2 can run upwards of 30-40 MB/hour. A 384k line should be fine for joining games, but you won't be able host more than one or two players.

An annual subscription is around R400 or so. Once you've registered your LIVE account, you'll get a free month, so check it out then.

Getting your line to say a 512 unshaped(pretty important at least in my past experiences) may also be a good idea, with 1 or 2 gigs added in for patching and such. These days gaming and huge patches are synonymous with one another.

Uh uh uh. Microsoft has very strict policies regarding patches - they won't exceed 10 MB in size. And because Microsoft also charges devs / publishers in excess of $20k per patch, they make sure they get shit right.

As for unshaped, pffthhhhhllllttt. I play on LIVE with a shaped-to-shit iBurst wireless connection. For all the OMG EVIL CORPORATIONZ stuff people can chuck at Microsoft, there's no denying Xbox LIVE is a superb service. There's something to be said for paying for that.

    Sorry, dudette

As for 384kbps.....I would say an upgrade to at least 512kbps

I used to have iBurst 512 and I used to get weird latency in games like Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, things such as on my screen it showed me shooting the guy, but in the kill cam I did not shoot and the other guy killed me first......its a problem with the ping time and guys with 4MBps are going to have much quicker pings = you die quicker.

I upgraded to 4MBps, am saving R200 a month from my old iBurst, and online gaming is soooo much better.

As for bandwidth usage in games, I cannot comment on Halo because ive never played it, but I know that Call of Duty 4, Call of Duty World at War and Modern Wafrare 2 all use about 5MB per every 10 minute game you play....which is practically less bandwidth then downloading mp3s all day.

As for hosting though, times that by the number of guys in your lobby. So when I host a 12 man Call of Duty lobby im using about 60MB every 10 minutes...

Hope I could help in some way

Ps3's Ylod ! suprisingly the 80gig here @ my place is still going strong.

best advice is to hould out and wait for e3 ! there is a 90% chance that ms will reveal a smaller 360 ! pics of the combined gpu/cpu is already floating the net
