I think your friends have been smoking something that makes them a bit daft. Seriously though, I cannot believe that there are people out there who don't think this game is amazing. I happen to think the story and characters are really good and the ending was one of the better game endings in recent times. Also, the combat is great, the Euphoria character physics are really awesome and I love the way NPC's react to every bullet they take.

The hunting is made of pure win, it's probably what I spend most of my time on this game with (still need to kill a bear with nothing but my knife ). Also really enjoy playing poker and liar's dice as well as the other mini-games. Just wish I could do more cattle herding ..

So no, this game is not shit and we are not deluded, your friends are.

Watching them tumble off their recently dead rides never gets old, and grabbing a cheap kill while they're getting back up is like the bonus ball in the lottery.

The kill box messages are awesome too - "X shot Y's horse's head off."

It bothers me since I trust his opinions, and he is also pretty strong willed.

Me thinks he wanted something totally different from the game, and when it was not forthcoming, he then tried hard to find fault with it. An intelligent person can find reasonable fault with anything if inclined, which is what I think he did. Usually he will concede if a game has merit but just did not gel with him, but this time he tore this game to shreds! Odd, I guess these things happen.

This may not be the greatest game ever, it lacks in some glaring ways, but it makes up for it in other areas.

LOL, yeah it's awesome. I especially enjoy running up to a bunch of people with a lit dynamite stick in my hand, really funny when they all blow up with me. Throwing people with molotovs when they're sitting on their horses also makes for some good laughs, as I found out the hard way tonight.

Had a bit of an altercation with my friend (and his friends), who loathe this game.

They seem to think nothing is worth doing in the game. The story is weak. The combat is dull. The characters are bland. The environment is repetitive. The mini-games, hunting, and such all serve no purpose whatsoever. They see nothing worthwhile in the game, and the more I tried to explain what I am enjoying about it the more they found things to pick on.

I don't know, maybe I am just being insecure since I am so used to finding fault in things, but this game is far from the crap they seem to think it is! Now I know that the argument - if many people love something that it must be good - does not always hold water. But this game does have merit.

After speaking with my friend I found myself playing the game suddenly with resentment, almost looking for something to dislike. So much so that I had to switch it off. Is this game shit? And we are all deluded?

Any thoughts on this?

Teh - Who cares what other people think if your enjoying it then its good - whatever the game.

I'm just glad that you do like it - especially after the way I was raving about it on the weekend.

Im with Moody. The game is about your enjoyment there of. They didn't spend money on it, you did so dont let other people cheapen it for you.

After patching like Tinman said the bugs have become a whole lot less and I am definitely enjoying it more.

If I had to listen to what everyone said about a game and then base my own feelings on that, I may as well give up gaming completely.

You either enjoy that game or you don't. As they say, different strokes for different folks.

With regard to RDR, I can't believe the game is anything short of amazing given the feedback I have read. Maybe its just not your mates cup of tea?

Finished the story segment of the game and loved the ending, very fitting. Despite my obvious hesitation initially, this game was absolutely worth the purchase!

I recently started playing this game and I was skeptical at 1st but I must say, I love this game. I cant get enough of it.
