And so the game has started. I managed to finish the prologue mission, the warehouse missing and started doing some side quests in Detroit. I'm playing this game for the love. I don't see the point in being challenged. That's not why I want to play the game, so I'm playing on Tell Me A Story. I want to explore the world, and talk about the amazing dystopian future created.
Screenie one: The infamous line - "I never asked for this"
Screenie two: This CRT arch in Pritchard's office. It is just so funny to see these old CRT screen being present in such a technologically advanced world. And to find these in the office of the senior IT tech. It's just amazing!!

So, let's talks about the start of the game. The story and the references of Deus Ex.
An interesting aspect to note is the name of the protagonist; Adam Jenson. It is no accident that his name is Adam. It is a reference to the Adam from Adam and Eve, the first human. Deus Ex is full of religious reference. The name itself is short for the Latin phrase "deus ex machina", literal meaning being "God from the machine". It's extremely apt name given the story and world created by the developers. There are a lot more references to religion throughout the DX universe, for example, the name JC from the first game. Adam, in this case, is a reference to the first real human to get augmented without any side effects from the augmentations, like needing neuropazine to function properly. He is the first in line that will be the birth of augmentation technology and its wide spread acceptance in the world. Which is why my first theory put forth is that he is Patient X, the donor for Megan's research. It's probably why Megan has a relationship with him in the first place. But all these secrets will be revealed later in the game, either true or false.
I also decided to start the game on the highest difficulty setting.
I was planning on starting the game and doing a violent playthrough, as my first playthrough was mostly stealth; however once I started I decided on a stealth playthrough again. I want to do my best to get the super sneaky, no death achievements.
I'm hoping just alarming an enemy (but no physical alarm going off) does not prevent me from getting it.
Edit:
I also see I last played the game in 2012. It's not that it aged badly, but I honestly didn't think it would look this "dated". I remebered it looking prettier. Rose tinted glasses are a hell of a thing.
I'm still enjoying the game so far though, I'm somewhere in the assembly labs I think.
Good to know.
I read up a bit now on the Pacifist achievement, and it seems you have to be quite aware of knocked out enemies.
First off, if you accidentally kill someone, the game won't let you know the achievement is not obtainable anymore. So you might finish the game and not get the achievement (which will suck hard!).
Second, after you knocked an enemy unconscious (indicated by Zz on their portrait) and you then move them around to hide them, they may die (indicated by a skull). I did not know this and haven't been paying attention to it for that reason, so I really hope I have'nt killed anyone accidentally this way.
Also, you are allowed to kill bosses, but not any 'adds' that might be present during a boss fight.
You also need to be careful of headshots with the tranq rifle, as this can sometimes kill an enemy instead of knocking them out. If this happens, but you did get the "Merciful Soul" xp, you are fine, even if the person does show dead.
The P.E.P.S also comes with a few cautions of its own.
For those going for the achievement, and are perhaps oky with some minor spoilers, more reading HERE
I also started yesterday on the hardest difficulty. Decided to try stealth. I was worried at one point when the guards become suspicious but that seems okay. I'm in the warehouse now. So far I haven't had to knock anyone out.

My PC kept locking up... Think my video card is on its way out
Gonna try underclocking it tonight to see if that helps.
