Press release received from Mind Sports South Africa:

Due to the fact that in 2010 rAge is on the same weekend as the World Cyber Games (WCG), Mind Sports South Africa (MSSA) together with SAMSUNG have developed an alternative method for determining how the player to be selected for the championship will be chosen.

SAMSUNG together with the MSSA shall be holding the qualifiers for the event at each and every Provincial LAN Championships.

This will enormously benefit all gamers. Instead of, as in the past, all gamers having to save up their hard earned money and trek to a central location, the trials will be coming to Bloemfontein, Port Elizabeth, Durban and Cape Town. Since the Gauteng Provincial Championships have already been held, the gamers who finished in 1st and 2nd place already count as having qualified for the final play-offs for team selection.

SAMSUNG have then also committed themselves to bringing the top two GUITAR HERO’s from Bloemfontein, Port Elizabeth, Durban and Cape Town to participate in the final play-offs to be held in Sandton City on 7 August 2010.

This means that South African gamers will be compete for a place with relatively little cost to themselves. A huge benefit indeed!

Also, because of all the ground-work that was done last year, the MSSA will have met the criteria to apply for Protea Colours which will be awarded to the gamer selected to represent South Africa at the WCG Grand Final Event in Los Angeles.

This will the first time that Protea Colours may be awarded to a player for the GUITAR HERO™ game
