My flatmate bought this on steam and is playing to at the moment, watched a bit of game play and listened to the audio this is definitely something you want to play with a headset.

A couple of things to keep in mind.
- It isn't a shoot `em up, so don't go expecting COD/DooM/BF of something similar where its almost constant action.
- It's not meant to be a bazillion hour game, the developers have said a lot of times, the game will be shorter than most and that's part of the reason they are not asking full price, like $60 or whatever goes for full price these days.
- Play with headphones, don't even attempt to play without it, its sound design was built around binaural sound. You lose so much of the immersion if you dont.
If you complain about any of the above, you shouldn't buy/complain about the game as it was all clearly listed by the devs.
This is an exceptional game, sure the combat can be a bit meh now and then, but the game, imvho is awesome, trying strongly for game of they year for me personally.
While speaking about binaural sound, have a listen to some of the vids at this site. The Sound Traveler
installed last night, didnt have time to play though
when it starts up it says best experienced with headphones, I see there's also a featurette video in the menu but didnt want to watch it since it contains spoilers apparently.
