Sloppy paint work where someone paints the floor red for instance and it gets on the wall and they just leave it there.

Definitely this! The mistake I find most annoying is people who use your in place of you're. Drives me [expletive] nuts!

It's not the people who speak English as a second language that I have a problem with, afterall some of them have a better grasp on the language than some native speakers, rather it's the people who only speak English and who make asinine mistakes that irk beyond measure.

Out of interest, what do/would you use instead?
Not as pretentious if you had to use the proper words; i.e.: flatulence and defecate.

What would the Afrikaans alternatives be though? I can only "angliseer" them to "flatulensie" and "defekasie" which would make me sound like an idiot. In general Afrikaans company you'd never actually talk about "poep"ing or "poef"ing. You'd fart silently and blame it on the dog and just up and go to the toilet when taking a dump without telling anyone.

    Anyway, on topic:

Seeing an open cupboard when I in bed. Having to get out of bed to close said cupboard, or just having to get out of bed for anything right after getting in.

Um, a reliable indicator of what? I said grammar mistakes are things which annoy me. I'm not annoyed by accents; well, not unless you have an accent like this:
