Default Humble Bundle bought by IGN - sad news.

I saw an announcement over the weekend that IGN has acquired humble bundle. http://blog.humblebundle.com/post/16...orces-with-ign

This leaves me feeling sad. I don't trust IGN to leave it running the way it was. Some things might change for the worse etc...

Do you think IGN will change?

I also saw it and was also sad and checking reddit so many people canceled their subs to the monthly since they don't trust IGN just like me.

IGN will never change. Or do you mean "Will IGN change Humble Bundle"?

And there goes the internet, on its merry wave of negativity and cynicism.

The truth is it will be highly unlikely that Humble will change drastically now with the partnership. We don't even know what the details are of the deal, so there's absolutely no reason to get up in arms just yet.

Let's be honest, IGN is huge. It has a vast amount of resources at its disposal, and if Humble can leverage from just a fraction of those resources, the service will be much better off. But just because of the meme, because of internet echo chambers, there is this negativity towards IGN that in many respects are very unwarranted.

So no. This is not the end of Humble.

A friend actually phoned me on Sat while at an anime meetup to ask my opinion on this because they were discussing it , I'm skeptical as I'm sure most people are, as long as they don't change the formula of what Humble has always done it should be fine, if they do ,unless its for the better well they will most likely loose a lot of customers, if you really think about it humble used to just do the bundles right then added the store, I think that's where the catch comes into this whole en-devour.

Also this whole story could put there journalistic integrity into question which I think is a bigger caveat

And another thing: why would people now cancel their subs to Humble? Are people really that petty that they would abandon a service just because it "sold out"? Seriously people need to learn how the world works.

And whats going to happen now is that Humble will have a couple of bundles, but the moment a bundle is not deemed by the internet as "good enough", everyone is going to blame IGN. Even though there have been a many Humble bundles in the past that's been rather low in quality.

I honestly don't know why I am so salty about this reaction of the internet.

Maybe they'll rename it "Arrogant bundle"

I agree , I assume nothing would change on the monthlies as they have a contractual agreement to fulfill, sure they could give the people crappier games but I doubt they would , if anything they might make it better or cheaper to get more subs and make more money which is the whole point of this kind of purchase.

I'm not too concerned about what's going to happen to Humble to be honest.

I think this is going to affect people's perception of IGN more. How trustworthy are reviews from people who could potentially be trying to sell the thing they're reviewing? Not that anyone should ever trust a single review for anything, but anyway...

We'll have to wait and see though. Jumping to conclusions already seems a bit silly to me.
