It all comes down to money. While microtransactions make a lot of money, people will continue to add it to games.

But there will be this trend of publishers that create games with a bit smaller budget or let me rather say, less marketing spend, and create games that will inevitably not sell the millions of copies of these AAA behemoths, but then again don't need to. These games will become darlings with the vocal minority of gamers on the internet, their popularity will grow, causing more developers to follow suit.

And thus you will get:

Indie games - made by really small teams on minuscule budgets and published by themselves
AA games - bigger budget games from established publishers focusing on storytelling and single player
AAA games - biggest budget open world microtransaction filled multiplayer focus blockbuster titles
Dont know about anyone else but I would completely avoid AAA's.
