9. WOW! Ok, how much cool stuff is in Tokyo?
- Check out the preview site that Hanbiton has set up
-A new station and over 20 new areas; no word onto if this is the first act in a series of updates or if this is all there is to Tokyo.
- Samurai inspired Armor sets for the Templar (and presumably new armors for the Cabalists and Hunters)
- Lots of new weapons (at least 3 for each faction)
- The skills from Flagship's 2.0 will be added into the game.
- You will still need to unlock them using tokens from random monster drops.
- After you unlock them, you will either need to respec if you are already maxed out on levels or give them to a new character.
- - If you chose to respec, they sell respec trainers in the store for a hefty price. You could also get lucky on Moloch... your choice.
- NO new classes
- The next chapter in the story
- Supposedly more UI overhaul
- The level cap will be raised to 55.
- SUPPOSEDLY the PVP portion of the game will see some improvement after the initial Tokyo patch
- Supposedly much of the balance fixes and performance enhancements that flagship made from their version of 2.0 will be put into the game.
- Supposedly also, the game's DX10 client will finally be put back into play.
- UPDATE: Tokyo is officially set to launch 4/6/10 in Korea.
- Update #2: See above, clarification on what is going to be in Tokyo.
10. I'm a subscriber/founder from the old Hellgate, will I get my stuff back?
Probably not. They made their own subscribers abandon their characters to start fresh on a new server when they switched over to Leisure Wreck Shawn.
11. Will I be compensated for the stuff I lost / the money I spent?
Maybe. They DID compensate their own subscribers by giving them refunds and/or free in-game store credit.
They also gave them a free unique zombot pet who gives a 25% damage boost and a 10% run speed increase, along with a free storage bag and about 20 extra life hearts. It seems like only one character per account was allowed in on that deal.
Store credit was applied to accounts only if the players did not chose to have a refund.
But we'll have to wait and see if they do ANYTHING at all. Don't hold your breath, but also don't give your hopes up. If they do give anything, be greatful. As far as I know, they are not legally obligated to do anything for us at this point besides market a product. And even then, that's if they actually follow through with the North American / European re-launch.
Alas, let's not go pounding our fists on objects made from decapitated trees.
12. I've heard they do in-game and out of game events almost non-stop every month. Will they be doing that for our servers?
Probably. From what I can tell, all of the games Hanbitsoft has brought over to America has kept its livelihood of in-game events. But it ultimately depends on how good of a localization dev. team they put up.
From what I can tell, Redbana USA will probably be handling our side of the world - which would probably be for the best, since they are supposedly handling most of the development.
However, keep in mind that they had the Redbana team moved to Korea so the project manager could keep a better watch over them and speed up the development life cycle. Still, Redbana is behind it... so just stay optimistic.
13. What happened to Elite Mode and Hardcore mode?
- Elite mode is gone for good. If you want something like that, play on Nightmare mode or Hell mode only.
- Hardcore mode is supposed to be coming back; sadly it isn't their biggest priority. They felt it was too frustrating for their player base. Perhaps they'll reconsider if the western audiences pester them.
But beyond that, you'll have to keep in mind that the resurrection hearts may still be in hardcore mode. They'd rather sell you the ability to revive than miss out on an opportunity left un-touched (or so it seems).
14. I've heard somewhere that they've incorporated a Ladder into the game, how does it work?
Good question. From as far as Cthulhu can tell, the ladder system takes into account several things:
A) How active you are on the forums.
B) How often you play
C) The progress of your characters and their palladium
D) Your participation in community events
E) Your guild's ranking
F) PVP score (wins vs. losses)
And yes, section E does mean that guilds are ranked as well.
Guild rankings are (apparently) based off of:
A) Guild membership numbers
B) Overall guild character progress and riches
C) Overall guild PVP history
Cthulhu is not sure of the season time tables, but apparently high ranking ladder & guild participants win actual prizes (I.E. Hellgate swag, computer hardware and Hanbit cash)
There is no clear sign as to if the ladder system will be brought in along with the rest of the game for the NA and EU launch.
15. What if Bill/Tiggs/Scapes/Guy Somberg/FSS-10 shows up ?
Run. Especially if FSS-10 does. That guy was too shady to be trusted with anything. And he cheated. A lot.
He must've been a ninja. Which explains why they were doing a Tokyo expansion...
