I think EA has become pretty damn awesome over the last couple of years.

All of the games have a pretty decent amount of polish and are far from shit. (unless you subscribe to the idea that < 80% = shit) In fact, I don't think any other publisher out there has a better holistic collection of games in the market right now.

What and who makes a hardcore gamer a hardcore gamer? Why does somebody who plays Harry Potter, Peggle, Hoyle's Casino, Sims or hidden object games get classes as a casual gamer? If there has to be, and I emphasize IF, a separation in class between casual and hardcore gaming, let it be the amount of time spent playing and not what is played.
The most important thing any gamer must get into their skulls is that money will always talk for a company making/producing games. I'm sure there are lots of developers out there who would love to make games differently, but they need a paycheck at the end of the month and thus produce games that are not always what everyone expected or wanted, but what sells and makes them plenty of money.
As for so many people who bash and rage at EA or at IW or at Activision, get over yourselves. So many read what other "respected" bloggers, writers have written about lambasting said companies and jump on the bandwagon. That really pisses me off. Grow a pair and form your own opinion. Yes, obviously people can have the same opinions regarding a game or whatever is under discussion, but I find too many okes just bitching about something for the sake of bitching.
As far as motion controls go, it has it's uses in subtlety. As someone said, in things like Unchartered, or in Heavy Rain is very cool. But that is merely my opinion and again it comes down to money. If the masses keep buying it, why on earth would companies stop making it because some self proclaimed hardcore gamer says its kak? And yes, I owned a Wii, but sold it after 2 months as the novelty quickly wore off on me. I played one or two titles and didn't like it. What I don't understand is why people are flaming about this. If you don't like it, don't buy it. Don't read the reviews, don't get involved. Again, people like to bitch and gripe about it because it gives them something to whine about.
At the end of the day these are merely my opinions and I'm entitled to them as indeed you are yours, but I fear that the game makers out there don't care about me and you as individuals. They will always look to the masses first and put their needs and expectations first. And I can't honestly blame them, because they are in the business of making money. If you don't like their products, don't buy it. Simple.
I think I found out what a hardcore gamer is: somebody who can keep playing a game, even though its long lost its magic, like mappy, I don't know how anybody can play cod4 for so long....

I dunno I think there is some difference between hardcore and casual games. It's not easy to pin down but it's there. Maybe it's just in the amount of time they spend gaming, or maybe it's to do with the complexity of the games they enjoy. Me, I'm an old-school Nintendo gamer - I get mocked by my FPS friends for playing Mario Galaxy but whatever, I know a classic when I see it.
