    Bugger this watered-down American rubbish!
You speak like that - there are some SERIOUSLY underrated Jap movies that nobody even knows about.

We have "Infernal Affairs" on dvd at home. The mainstream "The departed" is based on it almost line for line.

But yar - there are some seriously twisted jap movies out there. I don't even want to start on scary kids in movies such as their version of the ring etc. That's why I listed "the grudge" as one of mine. Kids in horrors freak me the flip out!

Ah, but Infernal Affairs was a mainstream release in Hong Kong. I'm talking about the dark, creepy art house shit that only the weirdos watch

You are right though, The Grudge was fairly disturbing. I actually found it a decent interpretation of the Japanese horror style, unlike a lot of the other diluted crap we Westerners have to suffer with.

That's exactly what I'm saying too...

Infernal affairs was MAINSTREAM Japanese, yet nobody in the West even knows about it... so it supports what you're saying even more when it comes to the sinister/cult films that don't even make it to everyone in Japania.

The sad thing is it's a little known fact that The Departed is based almost entirely on it.

It would help if local retailers made more of an effort to get the decent overseas stuff. For now I have to rely on importing and a few select video stores :/

See old thread. Scary as hell. If you ever have time, check some of the comments for this on Youtube. The fans of this seem to type "like" as "lyke," not realizing that it's the exact same amount of letters. Additionally, there are several forums for people who think they are real vampires -- Google it. I'd like to take this time to mention that typing like a dumbass (this has its limits, I mean crossing it) doesn't make you cool.

    2. High School Musical 3
Imagine Grease with nothing but bisexual actors and sexually challenged script/song writers and you get High School Musical 3, cleverly abbreviated to
HSM. I refuse to type the abbreviation out of hatred.

It's not just the terrible singing and choreography, but also the idea that high school is a place where you all dance and hold hands. Now, I am nowhere near brave enough to rent this movie, so all I've done is watched a few clips on Youtube, but from that alone I know enough to bash it. The A rating is made obvious at every possible opportunity, such as throwing in at least one Asian and black person to make the message very clear that it is not a biased movie, not realizing that putting just one in makes it pretty damn obvious -- but their target audience wouldn't even notice, so they make it even clearer that the intention is to dumb down kids so that they don't notice idiocy and end up typing like this:

-- You didn't save ANY time by typing like that. In fact, you just ruined any chance you have of being anything more than a janitor at McDonalds. And you're 12. Sad, amirite?

-- The swearing is completely nonsensical. And I have no idea what was just said.

Keep in mind this is looking through one page of replies to these movies.

    3. Camp Rock.
    See 2.

I think a lot of people have missed or not read at all what you started the thread for. Hahahaha!

I think movies like High School Musical 3 are simply an indication of the degradation of our society.

dvd rented - haunted echos - supposed to be scary, but uber boring and [email protected], probably the worst movie ever imo

and last a movie called superstar - oi, if i ever have the oppertunity to watch this movie again, i'll surely kill myself...and thats what makes this one scary

these movies had a similar effect on me that scary movies, they gave me gray hair

I watched He's Just Not That Into You with my girl and I thought it was really good. Best romantic comedy I have seen in ages, and normally I HATE them.
