I'm not sure AMD really does offer so much better bang for buck than Intel. An i7 950 is now r2700 new at Prophecy - that'll chomp on a 1090t for a better price. And you can now get decent x58 boards for <r1500. You have to look at every price point to see whether it's worth going amd or intel. You can't just make generalized statements any more. i3 is a very compelling price/performance piece - excellent dual core performance.
