yeah as I said, GTAIV really just didn't pull me in the way any other GTA did. Specially Vice City.

I hear what you're saying man, it is very different from the other games. But I think that's what I liked about it, it wasn't more of the same in a different location. Parts of it were I guess, but GTA 3, GTA Vice City, and GTA: San Andreas were are all lumped together in my brain as being fairly similar in tone. Just like GTA 3 was a new direction for the series, so is GTA IV. GTA 3 wasn't exactly the greatest game of all time and Rockstar only really hit their stride I feel with Vice City and San Andreas. I think the same could be expected with whatever following installments we get in the GTA IV range. I don't think the next GTA game will be GTA V, but rather GTA: "Insert random city name here" or something like that. GTA V will be another direction change for the series I think. Maybe you'll be a cop. I don't know, I'm just speculating. In fact, I've forgotten what my point was

I had no issues with GTA IV on my lowish spec HP 8510p while I was running Vista. It was only after I reloaded XP that I started having problems. This latest patch seems to be working wonders for XP, but I have not really played much to completely test it.

I played this on Xbox last year and it ruely is a technical marvel. I got a bit bored though for some reason, eventually losing interest altogether about half way into the story.

But there is no denying that it is a quality game.

I am a major hardcore GTA fan, so I was indulged into GTA IV and really enjoyed the game and its story. Very touching story and certain things people can relate to. The only quirk I had with it was that after I had completed the story, I needed real motivation to get me to 100% and I still haven't done it. Reason being, there's nothing after the story to keep you hooked. In San Andreas you can still take some girlfriends out, look for more girlfriends, buy houses, go on road trips, etc. GTA IV is dead after the story.

Then I sold the X360 version and bought the PC version, what a disaster it is. The third patch made it a bit better but the specs are way too demanding and the lack of AA really gives it horribly jagged edges and no matter what settings you have, the shadows are shit. Really hope R* don't disappoint, and support the PC version until it is fully repaired. I didn't buy it in December to play next year. I bought it to play it then.
