Medal of Honor won't feature playable Taliban

I can understand if you or someone close to you has been involved in the war and lost someone as a result that it is hurtful. What get's me though, is why in so many other games can you play as Nazi's or whatever else? Why, because politicians know that there are no points to be scored and thus don't make a scene.

Also, EA is doing this, because they are worried the game might be banned in US and UK, which would make a massive dent in their sales figures.
 
I'll agree with the fear of bans issue. There's also a cynical part of me that thinks this whole thing was just a marketing exercise.

The Medal of Honor IP reboot is a seriously important move for EA and the MoH franchise. Better get tongues wagging. What better way than to stir a bit of controversy. And at the end of it all, it's so simple to just say "we're removing the Taliban so we don't hurt feelings, we're so nice, please go buy the game."
 
I agree about removing sensitive material, that may offend, but general question.. Why does FPS not including multi-campaign play (opposing), like RTS C&C, Blitzkrieg, etc..? Even C&C: Regenade had only one side, what is uncharacteristic for C&C.

Yea true, too bad Americans can't think dynamically...

Boo-Hoo! let's all cry cause Taliban is in a game.... Sad really. Think they need to build a bride and get over it.

They changed the fucking name of the "opposition" are they going to look, sound, act different? I think not, not this close to release. This just shows how freaking trivial this hole thing was, even the vets said its fine. Lame man, lame.

Coz if the public goes into suck a hissy fit over who we get to play in multiplayer imagine if you got to play a story based campaign in which you are the Taliban shooting american soldier.
 
Ag c'mon guys. Lets walk the walk for a change and be the "better person". Like we've said, it's just a game - so who cares what they call the opposition - as long as it's a great game I don't care. Heck, they can call them wookies and I still wouldn't give a crap.

You have to remember that Americans are very patriotic. To the point where they're actually daft about it. It's something which we in South Africa won't understand because I, like many other people in this country, wouldn't mind it see blown to bits by atomic bombs. Me being in some other country at the time, obviously :D

So yeah, let them change the name. If it makes a bunch of people "feel better" over it - then do it. Just don't stuff up the actual game please.

I felt bad playing the fist level of Force Unleashed... killing all those wookies... :(

Ah! I'll get over it, suppose they have their reasons for removing it. ie: avoiding a lawsuit, cause families of the fallen find it offensive... I find it all lame but that's just me.
