Default So I need a new TV...

My rear projection monster kicked the bucket this weekend and I've decided to sell it off (once repaired) and move on to some LCD goodness.

Now I'm not exactly rolling in cash at this point in time so I need something cost effective to hook up to my PS3.

Ideally I want something around a 42", obviously suited to gaming, and it doesn't have to wall mountable or have decent sound as I have both of those aspects covered.

    Any recommendations?

    Sony Bravia 40" V-Series

When I finally buy myself an LCD TV...... that'll be it.

I bought myself a sinotec 32" 720p HD LCD last year for R5k @ game of all places. The 1st one had dead pixels on the screen and they replaced it without thought for brand new one. Sine then I haven't had a moment's trouble with it.

I also use it as my primary PC screen and I think anything bigger than 32" quite simply wouldn't fit. I also run my xbox360 off it and the HD is AMAZING!

Obviously the bravia's are top notch... but I live off an East London salary...

Bravia would be ideal but they ain't cheap. My current TV is 42" and I don't want to sacrifice size when I change over if possible.

I see the Sinotec's are quite cheap though, although that contrast ratio doesn't look great?

BTW Voicy I live off an advertising salary so I feel your pain

I've only heard good things about the Sinotech, so it'll be worth it. I'm looking for a 40" that's full HD. Not many of the around. The Sony Bravia V-Series 40" being one of them.

    I got a FullHD Samsung 40" 5 series a few months ago for R12800.

I especially wanted something in full hd with a decent response time.

30,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, 5ms response time and full HD, LCD

I love it, no complaints whatsoever.

I previously owned a 42" LG which was stolen. To be honest I have not even noticed the size difference. If anything the Samsung's image looks a bit tighter as a result of the 2inch size difference.

A very good TV that I would highly recommend.
