Remember to get The Witcher patch up and running before you start playing it (think it was a 1GB patch, if you can call something that big a patch)

He doesn't need the patch if he gets the enhanced edition which is the one the shop should be selling unless they have some very old stock left.

True true ... forgot about that. I saw the enhanced edition at BT, but DEFCON 5 is selling the old one (where I bought mine)

And they are generally more expensive and the woman that works there makes a funny face as if she stepped in poo

You may want to get hold of the Sacred 2 demo and give that a whirl to see whether it appeals to you.

Also look out for Neverwinter Nights 2, Gothic 3, Dawn of Magic,The Bard's Tale ,Two Worlds and Spellforce 2.

I'd add Sacred 2 to the list. After the patches it's one brilliant experience.

I loved The Bard's Tale, the humour and the surprise ending.

It's a matter of personal taste-or lack thereof.

I liked a bard tale as well.

Others to look at is fallout 1 + fallout 2, better than FO3 imho. The baldur's gate games, planescape torment, arcanum and vampire the masquerade bloodlines.

Those are if you don't have a problem playing old games. The gfx are dates but as far as story and game play go all of them are still up there.

The Fallout Collection is going for R136 at Take 2. Grab it while you can.

    I missed out on Planetscape.

How does Fable 2 compare to Gothic 3, Oblivion, Witcher etc?

I played Fable 1 when it first came out but I can't remember it that well. I do know that I never finished it but I'm not certain if that was because my pirate copy was dodgy or if it was because I was not enjoying it / got sucked back into wow.
