Default Requesting updated vanilla steam client...

I bought darksiders today, but I'm unable to play it since I can't seem to get past steams auto-updating client. It keeps getting stuck at exactly 45% with no resume support so it keeps starting at 0 then fails.

Can someone please upload a updated steam client(just the client with no games)?

    try this first.

make sure steam isn't open anymore (also check taskmanager)
go to the its installation directory, look for the clientregistry.blob, delete the file and restart steam. now just let it go might take up too 10 mins.

I've tried that a few times already but the problem persists. I also just found out that I'm unable to open the steam forums paage. Also keep getting a "steam is unavailable" message...

I bought the retail (boxed version) of Darksiders. It did need an update via steam which seemed to take forever.

Yup, and on two different pcs's.

I'm using CellC and basically the Vodacom Roaming network. I've also had problems with sc2 updates and it's map downloads. Map downloads get stuck at 98% and I had to download the manual patch.
Anything that relies on auto-update seem to hate me.

@Fivel, yeah more to look foward to...

If you are using steamwatch disable it & try again.

Also, find a way to check whether its actually moving data. e.g. Firewall

    Never heard of steamwatch.

Anyways I got someone to download the steam client for me, luckily it appears to zip nicely and he send it to me. Now installing Darksiders, will see how it goes. So far it appears to be installing from the disc only which is good news so far.

Oh and still can't access the steam forums, in the client the community and news page also just doesn't load.

CellC price revolution came just in time...
