Sadly, yes. If only they knew!

My advice, only bring out the true geek in once married!

Not right, find a woman that loves you either coz ur a geek or despite being a geek. If u only bring it out prost I do, there are going to be alot of fighting.

Luckily for me, my wife knew I was a gamer from the word go.

Hehehe So true, altho my last ex was a geek, and now I have little trust in them :P

But I will have to date/marry a geek or else my gaming habits will be frowned upon. As it is "girls dont game".

And that's why girls like you are awesome!

It's actually surprising how many couples play WoW...it's a very solid pass-time, since they're always questing together and coming to each other's aid. I recall in our guild there were 3 or 4 married couples playing. It only becomes an issue if the one plays and the other detests it, because on the flip side I also know of 2-3 people who have ended up divorcing. (The game could be blamed, but I think there were deeper underlying issues.)

One thing I have noticed is WoW is a dirty word in the MMO community. So many people think it is pure crap, and seem blind to acknowledging what it did for the genre (good and bad). Fact is it made a HUGE impact on the genre, and pretty much all MMO's after it have tried to clone the experience in many ways and largely failed.

These days so many people play MMO's and games in general that we are not in the proverbial closet any more. But that within itself has had an interesting impact on the industry.
