Flight Sim Fans?

Hi guys,

Who of you here are FlightSim fans? Last night I was behind my PC (fully clothed - no jokes now please) and I thought of a way to test what this 6core CPU is really capable of. So I got the idea to install Flight Simulator X again to see how it ran, considering that it has always been one of those games (bar Crysis and GTA IV) that had a way of killing any PC.

So I installed it and pumped up the graphics to the max - and it ran perfectly! So now, it pretty much rekindled that love of FlightSims I had a few years ago and I can't get enough of it!

I'm thinking about buying and installing the REX2.0 modification - it seems pretty awesome and the effects that it adds really looks good.

So now I'm wondering, how many of you here also play FlightSims?

The last flight simulator that Microsoft ever made was Flight Simulator X - and after 9/11 they officially announced that they're completely pulling out from the FlightSim market. However, Flight Simulator X is still considered to be one of the best (if not THE best) flight sim available, and there are a few mods for it that also make it look as good as it technically is.

There are other flightSIM makers out there. X-Plane being the major player. They currently have X-Plane 9 available, and I agree it's a strong contender to FSX - but owning and having played both - I feel that FSX is just a little bit better. However, X-Plane 10 is on its way and it looks set to be THE FlightSIM game out there.

No man! That's like people saying that Ace Combat is an accurate flight SIM lol. Then again, I suppose that's better than nothing, some people here probably last touched a flight SIM game when they played sopwith.

I find proper Flight SIM games to be very relaxing and rewarding. The best part is spotting a far off airfield and deciding to bring in the heavy metal for a perfect landing.

I used to play Jane's combat flight sims back in the day - those were cool. Haven't been into it since. I tried FSX but I found it boring... maybe I was doing it wrong. A joystick would probably have helped as my old one had the old school game port connection. Have you tried to find a game port to USB converter in 2010?

I use flightsim as a training aid.

I think the beauty about microsoft flightsim is the huge community it has. And countless commercial/freeware addons. By the way, we expecting a new edition of msfs. http://www.microsoft.com/games/flight/

Wowsers! Thanks for the post dude! I wasn't aware of this incoming title at all. Geesh, I'm really looking forward to it. I guess I'll play FSX with the REX2.0 addon until this new "MS Flight" comes out
