For those that don't understand what MWEB has done to gamers in SA

Agreed.
Just byt vas.

Times will get better.

Remember, Mweb brought us affordable uncapped internet.
Mweb is one of the only ISP's I know that does not have a cap on their uncapped accounts.
We have pulled a couple of hundred gigs (okay, 100GB - 140GB) in one month and the speed was consistent.

Hehehe First month I singed up I killed it with a 65Gb Download :D

Otherwise...

Who to blame for all of this?

TELKOM! They bitched and moaned about compilation, and kept us all in the dark with "internet" services for years!

Now Mweb comes along and tries to make it all a little better for us and some people want to moan about it.

Neo please let me explain something quickly to you. Activision gave the sole rights to Gamerservers.com for dedicated support. Gameservers.com own directly and indirectly all the "datacentres" for blackops and Australia and South Africa is the only 2 countries thus far that i know of that has agreements with Gameservers.com and an ISP.

There is no way on this planet that Gameservers will give any other ISP's what they gave MWEB the chance to do. And one more thing. Yes we are using MWEB Datacentres effectively but per their agreement with Gameservers.com they have certain rules to follow. Gameservers.com will be more in charge of those datacentres than MWEB will be. MWEB effectively is only giving the hardware.

So for us to sit here and whine about peering bs for days on end and then to say MWEB stole things from the community is really not fair what so ever. Like the guys said we have certain challenges in this country we cant change over night so its either sit and whine everyday or try and get a work around. R29 a GB from Afrihost just for playing BO is not the end of the world if you have this peering issue.

This is not a perfect system but you must realize and like any person in the broadband industry will tell you we are still at least 2-3 years behind the states and Europe. I for one am gratefull in some ways that we actually got the servers seeing as SA had a total of 12000 copies of MW2 sold since release. Which for Activision doesnt even warrant opening a mail from south africa.

Dude....your post is trolling lol. I've shutup on this topic forever. I'm in a better place now, one where CoD sucks and everyone knows is - it's called the Nethereal - and we're waiting on Mortal Kombat. KthxBye.

What are you on about now....firstly you have a full rant about MWEB, say a whole bunch of stuff that people call you on and then you don't really bother to reply, then you say that CoD sucks.....are you generally just an unhappy bloke?

Damn I just had a dream that a Hadeda swooped down and stole a toy soldier out of a pond of hungry Koi. WTF does that mean any help?

Dude...how can you not realize that this is a good thing? All these problems mean that there is something big happening for broadband in this country. This is bigger than some stupid game. You should be getting excited, man!

By stupid game I don't mean that Black Ops is stupid, it's just a figure of speech.

/runs :D

Uhm, it's called saying your say and then reaching a point where you have to stop the topic because it's getting old. It's called "moving on". We do it a lot here on the forums - try to catch up please?

Fivel its not hard to work out lol. I think everyone should be happy, chill as the situation is a lot better than it was. I also dont think there are any David Ike consiracy's in play lol. Gaming really is a very emotional subject :)

Yeah, I call it ducking the issue, but nevermind, you had your rant so I guess you feel better. LOL - 'try to catch', unfortunately many posters here are way ahead of you ;)

Everything aside, I'll have to wait till Vodacom starts peering with MWEB before I'll be able to play. :(

Iburst peers with MWEB, so it has no impact on their users.

Then why is it that I suddenly lag my @$$ off since the peer cuts? In CODMW2, if a friend hosts with a SAIX account, I have "the normal" lag, but if anyone hosts with an IS account, it's like playing international.

If you post is true, I will accept that there is something else wrong, but my problems started exactly when the peering cuts took place.

As for the OP, I kinda agree, but I also agree that mweb wants to make the internet more affordable, they just chose the wrong time to do it, or an inconvenient time for us.

I just wish they would bring back WiMax. I will gladly give them all my monies if they did.
Anyone know if Derek Hershaw is on twitter? I will join twitter just to tell him this. ;)

I could be wrong and they might still be setting it up. According to MyBB and MyGaming articles, iBurst definitely has a peering arrangement with them.

What makes now any more inconvenient than next month or next year? When is the "right" time to do this kind of thing? IMO now is as good a time as any and the sooner they get the ball rolling, the sooner everyone gets to reap the benefits.

Omg are people still bitching about black ops? No servers and we bitch, we get servers and we still bitch.

Just get the damn game on console, none of this crap to worry about :p

The console version will have the same peering problems, this doesn't only affect PC. All the peering related posts and articles should be under general gaming actually.

EDIT: Actually, now that I think of it, on the console version you will have to build up a friends list of people with correctly peering ISPs.
