Default How much calories do you burn playing with the PS3 Move?

Well, I was asking myself that very question this past weekend and I decided to finally put it to rest. I strapped on my Polar heart-rate monitor and started up a game of Gladiator (part of Sports Champions) on the PS3.

I was already in the middle of the gold cup before I started, so I faced the last 5 opponents in the gold cup whilst monitoring my heart-rate on my Polar FT80.

After about 20 minutes worth of play and losing a few times and re-matching some guys, I finally beat the gold cup and to my amazement, saw that I had burned 300 KiloCalories in 20 minutes! I've never burned so much energy in such a short amount of time before.

So to those asking if you really can lose weight and get fit using something like the Wii or the PS3 - you bet your fat ass you could! I have proof!

On a side note, my right shoulder was killing me 2 days later

Intresting... now my question is why only on Wii and PS3? Surely games like Kinect Sports, YourShapre Fitness and even Kinect Adventrues could give similar results.

No, no dont get me wrong. All Im saying is that if your going to say "yes you do actually excersise when playing these motion based fitness games" you should include all the methods of doing so. i.e Wii, Move & Kinect. Coz no matter how hard the "core" gamers might kick against it Kinect is out, people are going to buy it, just like people bought the Move or Wii. So in the pursuit of fairness it is only right that we compare all forms of the genre hence forth known as motion-gaming.

Which one is better is up for debate, personally the tech in Kinect appeals to me while the affordability of the Move does the same. As I have both consoles I may end up getting both.

Medical Aid companies can give discounts on the Move, Wii and Kinect
