I suggest you take a look at what the DA has done since they've taken control of the City of Cape Town. They've firstly taken the city's budget out of a shortfall to a surplus, they've more than doubled the rate of housing delivery, increased the amount of free water and other basic services provided to the poor and by simply taking a walk around the CBD, you'll notice it's much, much cleaner.
Helen Zille (who won World Mayor 2008) has done an amazing job of cleaning up the city and getting it ready for next year's world cup. Around R8 billion worth of developments in the inner-city have been secured for the period leading up until next year.
So all in all, the DA have been given something with which to prove themselves and they've more than done that.
