    Question Gaming Laptop

My mate moved to Dubai and he couldn't take his PC along. He is probably going to be back and forth so a PC wont be ideal for his situation. He needs a gaming Laptop. I haven't really owned a laptop, so I am not sure what I should recommend. Any suggestions?

Well what's his budget? Money solves all problems

By SA prices to get a "proper" gaming laptop i think u have to spend at least 16k. Otherwise plenty of the business spec laptops these days come with semi-decent gfx cards. I am going to probably get this for work http://www.laptopdirect.co.za/laptop...p?laptop=36799

I've never quite understood the point of a gaming notebook personally. Why spend so much on a notebook when you can for the same money, probably buy a PC twice the size.

Yeah, ok, this is travelling a lot, but even so, it's still a lot of money just to play games.

That aside, if money is no object, get a Alienware notebook!

    I agree with you 100%

I think its the traveling thing...Also he isn't only going to use it for gaming. Probably watching series, internet etc.

His room mate has a PS3 so he doesn't want to get a console.

Thanks for all the recommendations guys. The one on Toms hardware looks really awesome!

I like the Asus G51 or Asus G71. Depending on how much you got to spend. And Dubai prices will be a lot less than here.

    Core2Duo E8400 3Ghz, ASUS P5Q/SE MOBO, 3Gigs or RAM (800Mhz), Asus ATI RADEON 4850 512MB, 2X 500GB HDDs, Windows 7 Ultimate

Most computer repair spots will do that for you, I haven't heard of many that damage your hardware as per say. Only thing is that you would probably pay a fair amount for it.
