I don't think games are responsible for the dumbing down of movies any more than society in general, including mainstream based ideology and collective group think by people who's idea of a good time is very controlled in trends, the primary trends right now being, unfortunately, shitty music about awesome parties and promiscuity and personal intelligence being held for very little and talking about how drunk you were list night being epic and etc etc.

That said, what is the video game generation? In my opinion gamers who take their line of "work" seriously are some of the saner people since internet and reading almost goes hand in hand with it and gives people at least a slightly more open minded view of the world around them. The casual gamers are the regular adolescents and kids who buy whatever is shoved down their throats and therein lies the real problem.

Do video games help it along? Maybe. But that's not really the point. Create a well educated society of people who actually care enough about the world around them to have their own mind about things and movies will slowly start increasing in quality, as will the storyline of games, as well general morals, work ethics and workmanship. As it stands right now popular things sell, but not necessarily GOOD things.

The phenomenon he describes is the result of society's backwash. Movies are catering to more stupiderer people every year, and they still sell incredibly well. The blame really lies on individuals and their upbringings and roots being so undefined that the quiet expulsions of gas from my anus create a better personality.

It's all pop and trends and not skill or art, that's the real problem. Games are guilty of it, they're not the cause of it. And Billy Bob Thornton is a douche.
