New position on MSSA's Management Board - Player's Representative
Dear Gamer
The MSSA has amended its Constitution to allow a Player's Representative to sit on the Management Board.
The Player's Representative duties shall be to represent the views of the gamers and to directly liaise with SASCOC's Athletes Commission.
To this end, the MSSA has thought outside of the box.
Instead of the Player's Representative being elected by the member clubs, the Players Representative shall be directly elected by all fully-paid-up Registered Players.
The process of election shall be simple.
Nomination: Fully-paid-up Registered Players wishing to stand for the position shall inform the President by no later than 17H00 on Friday, 3 December 2010.
Criteria: Registered Players wishing to stand for this position, must be:
Fully-paid-up, and
shall have Protea Colours, and
shall have represented South Africa in an International Competition, and
shall not be over 30 years of age at the time of such election, and
shall have signed the standard Letter of Undertaking.
How to vote: Once the period for nominations has closed, the MSSA shall publicise the full list of eligible candidates. All fully-paid-up Registered Players may then vote for his/her candidate of choice by faxing their vote to the MSSA by no later than 18H00 on Saturday, 11 December 2010. The votes will then be tallied, and the candidate with the most votes shall be elected.
As you can see the MSSA is looking for players/gamers who are of the highest standard who can confidently and competently represent the views of all the Registered Players.
Of course, as with all of the other elected positions in the MSSA, this is a voluntary position for which no remuneration is paid.
Mind Sports South Africa (MSSA) is an affiliate of the South African Confederation of Sport and Olympic Committee.
The MSSA is responsible for the good governance and promotion of Board games (such as Backgammon, Diplomacy, Checkers, Draughts, Morabaraba, etc.), eSports (whether they are played on 'cell 'phones, consoles, personal computers or similar), and historical figure games (also known as wargames).
Only one nomination was received for the position of Player's Representative. The person so nominated is Abu Bakar Ebrahim who represented South Africa at the 2010 IeSF Grand Final.
With no other nominations having been received, Abu automatically takes the seat.
